Las Vegas DockDogs offers cool fun for you and your pooch

With the summer heat around the corner, many Las Vegas dog owners are faced with the same quandary. “How do I get my dog out of the house for some exercise without subjecting them (and myself) to heat stroke?” The answer: Las Vegas DockDogs.

What is DockDogs, you might ask. This fun performance sport for dogs includes four contests: Big Air, Extreme Vertical (EV), Speed Retrieve and the new sport Iron Dog, which is a combination of the other three. It is open to any breed of dog, and any size of dog. The only requirements: they must be over 6 months of age and they have to want to have fun! Who knows, if your dog is really good, you could find yourself participating in national competitions.

Dogs have a ball (no pun intended) diving off the dock into the pool, jumping high for the official DockDogs Flappy Toy, and retrieving the toy after a quick jump and swim. It’s a wonderful way to bond with your pup and get him some exercise all while having tons of fun.

If you are interested in participating (or your dog read this article and is pushing you to get more info), visit their website or contact Lianne Hassen, president, at 702.756.6444. The next competition will be held May 21-23 at Bass Pro Shops on Dean Martin Drive and is sponsored by Sit Means Sit Dog Training.

If you want to participate but don’t live in the Las Vegas area, check out DockDogs for an affiliate club near you. Summer is heating up; give your dog a chance to cool down!
